Sanctuary Improvement
Saving a few bucks is important to all of us. Sharing the love of Christ while we commit to doing His work is important too. This past Monday, over 20 NPUMC members gave generously of their time to work for our church. Our volunteer work saved us about $5,000.00. We started at 8:00 A.M. First, JT led all of us with a commissioning message and scripture about “building” the church. Then we had a meaningful communion and prayer before we went about our work of the day. We protected the pews with visqueen and covered anything else that may have been damaged. Then in the next 5 hours, we took up all the sanctuary carpet, removed the brick facing and all the mini-platforms that had been built for various reasons in the sanctuary chancel area. It was amazing to see the wonderful work God allowed us to accomplish. Today we are ready to rebuild the platform adding new audio, video, lights, carpet and more. We will have a splendid new look to our place of worship. We will have the ability to worship in so many more ways. Later on in the summer, we’ll have a “grand opening” service. We hope to have many new friends come and visit our “new” digs and become a part of our Christian family.
We saved several bricks from the old front of the church for anyone who may want a momento from the original church front. They are next to the bell outside the north doors and are free for the taking until they are gone.
The contributors to our Monday effort included: Anita Holder, Mike and Maria Poor, Walt and Judy Willetts, Pam Eccles, Allen Eccles, Roger and Nancy McCarty, Nelson and Dee Keener, Larry and Cindy Gray, Lee and Nancy Collier, Randy and Rita Wells, Gary Jones and Gary Jones, the younger, Bill Ettinger, Bert Armstrong, Bob Mitchell, Bob Lewis, Morris Bloomer, Steve Meno, Jason Lewis, and Butch Jenkins (and Butch jr.). God’s work is being done in our church. He is indeed working in our midst.
