Surgery Center

Today, much like many other days over the last 5 years, I was at the Community East Surgery Center waiting to pray for the successful surgery for Kathy Mitchell. Anita went with me as we have known Bob and Kathy for many years and she wanted to support them at this time of concern. We entered the waiting room to find no one there. Bob and Kathy had already checked in and were in the "prep" area in one of the rooms. It was still before 8:00 a.m. so we expected to see no one. The check in nurse directed us down to Kathy's room. Almost before we got down the hall, in came Denny and Barb Woods. They too, wanted to support a long time friend and sister in Christ. Then as we visited, in came Nancy Collier and Nancy McCarty! Then Jane Mitchell came in...then Kathy's sister, Judy, followed by Scott and Deb Ransburg, Jeff Mitchell and Don Mitchell. While we all joked and tried to lift Kathy's spirits, the time was near and the doctors were gathering outside the room ready for her. Just as I was ready to offer prayer, I saw Mark coming down the hall. I was "off the hook" for audible prayer. Mark led all of us in a wonderful prayer and we said our temporary farewells. It was absolutely tremendous to see and be a part of all the family and friend support for Bob and Kathy! Our church friends and family are special to us. This was just one more example of how God, through others, works to comfort and encourage us. GOD IS GOOD!
