Cold trucks are for the birds!

Brrrrrrr... It's cold this week! I have had a little different week this week. We cancelled the prayer breakfast Monday due to the inclement weather so I sent a few extra notes and made a few calls I wouldn't normally have time for on Monday. Taking cookies from the Fellowship Dinner to some folks Monday was rewarding. However, it is so brutally cold now that my truck hardly gets warmed up before I stop at a members home for a visit. Then after the hour of encouragement, caring and praying...when I return to the truck, it's cold again. Then I just repeat this four or five times over. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, so today I changed the pattern. I drove our Honda Pilot with heated seats!

This week we lost two long-time members and friends in Christ. Glen Beck, pastor for many for over 52 years passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday. He made thousands of home and hospital visits over the years and was a wonderful friend and inspiration to me. Then Monday, Dorothy Brackney passed over into God's kingdom also. These were two fine people who will be greatly missed by their families and friends!

I suffered another loss this week too. One of "my kids" from Morristown, Sarah Catherine Church lost her life in an auto accident. She was 18! It is a tragedy to us when we lose anyone dear to us, but we should never have to say goodbye to one that young. She was a sweet and loving soul who was just beginning her life. I feel the pain her parents and grandparents must have and am so sorry for them. When things like this happen it reminds me how valuable each day is for we as Christians. Every day we have another chance to worship Him. Every day we have an opportunity and privilege to tell others about Him. Every day we have a chance to show the love of Christ to others! Let's begin today and make every day count...for Christ.
IHS,
Roger
